How to access North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

The town of North Myrtle Beach is easily accessible from several major cities.

If you already live in South Carolina or North Carolina then great! You can simply hop in your car and drive to the wineries on this list.

But if you live outside the Carolinas you’ll need to fly into a nearby airport, rent a car, and drive from the airport to these wineries.

Luckily there’s an airport in the neighboring town of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Yes, these are two separate towns. Myrtle Beach is one town. And North Myrtle Beach is another town. Anyways, the Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) is located 23 miles south of the town we’re covering in this blog post (North Myrtle Beach). It should take 35 minutes to drive from the airport to the wineries on this list.

The next closest town is Wilmington, North Carolina. Wilmington is about 60 miles north of North Myrtle Beach. Wilmington International Airport (ILM) serves the city. It should take about 1 hour and 15 minutes to drive from that airport to your destination.

The third closest town is Fayetteville, North Carolina. Fayetteville is located 109 miles from North Myrtle Beach. If you fly into Fayetteville Regional Airport (FAY) it should take you about 1 hour and 50 minutes to drive to the wineries on this list.

Another city within driving distance is Charleston, South Carolina. Charleston is located 119 miles south of North Myrtle Beach. Charleston International Airport (CHS) serves the city. It should take about 2 hours and 20 minutes to drive from the Charleston airport to the town of North Myrtle Beach.

You could also drive from Savannah, Augusta, or Columbia. But they’re a bit further.

Duplin Winery makes award-winning wines. Sweet Muscadine wines, to be exact. 

Muscadine is an indigenous American grape that thrives in the American South. States like Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia grow a lot of Muscadine.

Duplin Winery specializes in Muscadine grapes, which they turn into a wide variety of red wines, white wines, and “blushes” (just another word for rosé).

If you’re interested in trying Duplin’s take on an all-American grape, head to one of their three tasting rooms. The first Duplin Winery tasting room is in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The second tasting room is in Rose Hill, North Carolina; it has a bistro too. Duplin wines are available at a third tasting room in Panama City Beach, Florida. All three tasting rooms offer flights so you can find your favorite muscadine wine.

The Duplin Winery tasting room in North Myrtle Beach is open Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 7 PM. Wine tastings end at 6 PM. On Sundays the tasting room is closed.

Carolina Vineyards Winery

Carolina Vineyards Winery makes wine from South Carolina grown grapes.

They take pride in creating the “Flavors of the South” for guests to enjoy. Their line ranges from dry to medium to sweet wines. They also make fruit wines.

The Carolina Vineyards Winery tasting room in North Myrtle Beach offers wine flights and wines by the glass. The standard tasting experience costs $6 per person and include samples of seven wines. A single glass of wine costs about $8. In the warmer months the tasting room offers frozen wine. Sounds like a great way to cool off after a long day of sightseeing and shopping.

The Carolina Vineyards Winery tasting room hours change throughout the year so be sure to double check the winery website before you head over.

By the way, Carolina Vineyards Winery in North Myrtle Beach is related to Boardwalk Winery and Beach Winery, both of which are located in the neighboring town of Myrtle Beach.

Coastal Wine Boutique and Tasting Room

Coastal Wine Boutique and Tasting Room is a great wine bar that offers tastings all day long.

They stock a variety of dry red wine, sweet red wine, and white wines from around the world. They also serve craft beer, cocktails, and desserts.

Coastal Wine Tasting Room has a little something for everyone, especially if you have a sweet tooth.

According to the Coastal Wine Boutique Facebook page they’re open seven days a week. On Monday and Tuesday this specialty wine shop is open from 11 AM to 8 PM. Wednesday and Thursday they’re open from 11 AM to 11 PM. Saturday and Sunday they’re open from 11 AM to 9 PM.

Coastal Wine Boutique’s North Myrtle Beach location is in the Barefoot Landing shopping center. It would be super easy to visit this wine bar and then go shopping. Sounds like a dangerous combination!

Wine Therapy Tasting Room & Shoppe

Wine Therapy Tasting Room & Shoppe is a cozy wine bar and retail store located in North Myrtle Beach.

The founder of Wine Therapy retired from social work and poured her efforts into a new dream: a wine bar that fosters connection and conversation. And Wine Therapy does exactly that. Guests can come in for a glass of wine and a chat.

This special wine tasting room offers an extensive selection of fine wine. They also serve craft beer, domestic beer, mead, cider, and sparkling wine. Frozen wine slushies provide the perfect way to cool down on a hot day. As for food there are shareable small plates like hummus and dips and cheese and charcuterie boards. A glass of wine plus a cheese flight? Sounds like a match made in heaven.

North Myrtle Beach is within easy driving distance of its neighbor Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The two towns are only 19 miles apart, which is a roughly 25 minute drive.
