When someone says “Texas wine” you don’t immediately think “Granbury.” But this quiet town is home to several fun wineries that turn Lone Star grapes into delicious wine.

Wineries in Granbury TX reflect the town’s deep historic roots and vibrant modern touch. 

Granbury is the perfect day trip from Dallas and Fort Worth. In fact, the Granbury area is only an hour from Fort Worth and under two hours from Dallas. 

And it checks all the boxes. Downtown Granbury boasts a dozen restaurants and eateries, over forty shops, and one of the best craft breweries in Texas (Revolver Brewing).

History buffs will love the stately courthouse, the Granbury Opera House, and historic Granbury Square. The city of Granbury actually won the USA Today Readers’ Choice Award for “Best Historic Small Town in America.”

Nature lovers can easily walk from the historic district to City Beach Park on Lake Granbury. It doesn’t get more convenient than that.

How to access wineries in Granbury TX in Texas Hill Country


Granbury, Texas is within easy driving distance of several large cities and small towns.

Granbury is a 1 hour drive from Fort Worth, Texas. Dallas is a 1 hour and 45 minute drive from Granbury. The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) serves both cities.

This airport is a major hub for American Airlines so there are tons of incoming and outgoing flights every day. It would be super easy to fly into the airport, rent a car, and drive to Granbury.

Granbury is also a 1 hour and 45 minute drive from the small town of Waco, Texas. Waco Regional Airport (ACT) serves that town.

Austin, Texas is a 3 hour and 15 minute drive from Granbury. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) serves the city.

Once you traverse Texas Hill Country and reach Granbury you’ll need a car to visit the first three wineries on this list. The final two businesses are located in the center of town, which is very walkable.

Granbury is home to three local vineyards that make delicious and complex wines from Texas grapes.

Barons Creek Vineyards


Barons Creek Vineyards is one of the most well-established wineries in Texas Hill Country.

They have several locations throughout Texas in Fredericksburg, McKinney, Georgetown, Dallas (Bishop Arts District), and Granbury.

Their Granbury winery location is housed in a beautifully restored historic building on the downtown Granbury Square. 

Guests can choose between two wine tasting options. There’s the classic tasting experience, which includes five hand-selected wines for $25 per person. The “Ultimate Wine Experience” pairs six wines with bite size food pairings for $45 per person.

Barons Creek Vineyards produces a range of wines including Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Tempranillo, Zinfandel, Albariño, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Stop by the Granbury location to enjoy their world-class wine, excellent wine pairings, and unique events. There’s plenty of seating but reservations are still strongly recommended on weekends.

Barking Rocks Winery


Barking Rocks Winery makes premium wines from Texas grapes in small batches. It’s the brainchild of a native Texan and the son of Italian immigrants.

They work with Roussanne, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Tempranillo grapes. The owners apply a “jeans and genes” approach to help their amazing Texas wines achieve their highest calling. 

The winery operates out of an old rock barn just outside of historic Granbury. They’re only open for Saturday tastings from 1-5 PM. Check their Facebook page to see which weekends will have stone-fired pizza and live music. 

In case you’re interested, Barking Rocks Winery is the perfect place to host special events like weddings, private tastings, and corporate events.

Pemberton Cellars Winery


Pemberton Cellars Winery makes premium wines exclusively from Texas grapes. Their tasting room is located a few miles outside of beautiful downtown Granbury. 

This family-owned winery grows six grape varieties in their vineyard. Their wines are a combination of grapes from their own vineyard and from vineyards across Texas.

Pemberton Cellars Winery produces different wines including Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Zinfandel, Mourvedre, Sangiovese, Malbec, and Tempranillo wines. They also create a white blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier grapes. This sweet wine has notes of grapefruit, pineapple, and peach.

The Pemberton wine tasting room is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Guests can make tasting appointments for other days if desired.

Farina’s Winery & Café is a family-founded restaurant on the Downtown Square in Granbury Texas. It’s a great place to try some amazing Texas wines!

The saloon-style interior of Farina’s Winery & Café is anchored by a beautiful antique bar. And their outdoor patio (with a fireplace!) is the best place in town to relax with a glass or bottle of wine.

Wine lovers will appreciate how the café stocks wine from all over the world including Italy, Spain, Chile, Argentina, Germany, and New Zealand. The menu includes also wine from California, Oregon, and Texas wineries. 

If you’re feeling peckish they’ve got plenty of Italian-American food like bruschetta, lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, and ravioli.

D’Vine Wine Granbury


D’Vine Wine is a unique place to grab a glass of wine in the heart of Granbury’s Historic District.

And guess what… They allow customers to make their very own wines too! How cool is that? D’Vine Wine staff is trained to guide customers through the entire wine process from selecting wine, to creating a custom blend, to designing a personalized label.

D’Vine Wine chooses the best grape juice from all over the United States. They work with grape varieties including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Malbec.

They also create wines with fruit flavors such as Green Apple Riesling, Black Cherry Pinot Noir, Peach Chardonnay, Blackberry Merlot, and Blueberry Cabernet Sauvignon.

Wine tastings are $13 for six wines or three tastes for $7. You can also purchase wines by the glass or by the bottle. The production side of the winery is located right on historic Granbury Square.

Georgetown, Texas is a town full of history. These three Georgetown wineries are situated on the main square near the historic Williamson County Courthouse. They’re walkable and they’ve got wine. Perfect!
