Serre Vineyards
Serre Vineyards has a beautiful backstory. It’s a love story actually.
Co-founders Melissa and Christian met and married in their forties. Both had experienced heartbreak and loss. Both shared an entrepreneurial spirit. Together these two entrepreneurs embarked on a new adventure. They combined their families. And they opened a wedding venue and tasting room in North Carolina.
Serre Vineyards works with a wide variety of grapes including Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. Cold-hardy varieties like Tannat and Vidal Blanc also appear in their delicious wines. Italian varieties such as Montepulciano and Sangiovese round out their offerings.
The Serre Vineyards tasting room is open seven days a week. On Saturdays they’re open from 12-5 PM. Sunday through Friday they’re open from 11 AM to 5 PM. Reservations are required every day of the week except for Saturday.
The tasting room offers glasses of wine, bottles of wine, and tasting flights. Tasting flights cost $25 for four 2-ounce tastes. There are two special seasonal experiences. The “Winter Fire Pit” experience includes four bottles of wine, s’mores kits, and access to a cozy firepit surrounded by Adirondack chairs. The “Sunny Times Umbrella” experience is the same thing minus the s’mores.
If you’re more of a beer person, never fear. Serre serves domestic beer on tap and Beast Trail Brewing beer. As for food, there are food trucks throughout the year. And they offer charcuterie boards prepared by State of Graze. Or you can also bring your own picnic. Serre Vineyards is a family-owned business that welcomes well-behaved children and leashed dogs.

Round Peak Vineyards
Round Peak Vineyards makes French and Italian wines from estate-grown grapes.
Their estate is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. This 32-acre property in the Yadkin Valley AVA includes 12 acres of vineyards.
Round Peak Vineyards turns their French and Italian grape varieties into high quality dry red wine and white wine.
The owners have a second business called Skull Camp Brewing. Under the Skull Camp brand they make sweet wines, cider, mead, and beer.
Their outdoor area features a patio with gorgeous views of nearby forests and hills. Live music happens every Saturday. There’s even a beginner-friendly disc golf course with nine holes, which gives you an entirely new way to enjoy the winery’s . Kids and dogs are welcome.
The Round Peak Vineyards tasting room hours vary seasonally. From April through December the tasting room is open Monday through Thursday from 12-5 PM. During January, February, and March the tasting room is closed Monday through Thursday.
Luckily the Round Peak Vineyards tasting room is open every weekend year-round. They’re open Friday (12-8 PM), Saturday (11 AM to 6 PM), and Sunday (12-5 PM) no matter the month.

There’s an adorable wine store and wine bar located in downtown Mount Airy.
Uncorked in Mayberry Wine & Craft Beer is a wine store with a curated selection. They stock a variety of North Carolina wines plus international wines and craft beer. With a selection this good who knows… you might just find your new favorite wine.
If you fancy a glass then pull up a chair at the tasting bar. They serve wines by the glass plus craft beers, domestic beers, and some cider.
If you’re looking for an event then come on a Thursday or Sunday. This Mount Airy wine bar also offers live entertainment on Thursdays nights. They also host “Mimosa Sunday” which is exactly as the name suggests: mimosas on a Sunday.
Uncorked in Mayberry is open Thursday through Saturday from 12-6 PM. On Sundays they’re open from 1-5 PM. The space is dog friendly so feel free to bring your pup.
